The municipality is crossed from east to west by the Ardennes Canal. Montgon is surrounded by the district of Le Chesne, which belongs to the municipality of Bairon et ses environs, in the east and the municipalities of Voncq in the canton of Attigny in the south, Neuville-Day in the west and Lametz in the north.
