Natalia Wenediktovna Lisovskaya

Natalja Wenediktovna Lisovskaya ( Russian Наталья Венедиктовна Лисовская ; English transcription Natalya Lisovskaya ; born July 16, 1962 in Alegasy , Bashkir ASSR , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Russian shot putter who became an Olympic champion for the USSR .

At the 1987 World Championships in Rome , Lissowskaja won the gold medal ahead of Kathrin Neimke and Ines Müller (both GDR ). She also won gold at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul ahead of Kathrin Neimke and Li Meisu ( CHN ). Two second places followed at the European Championships in 1990 and the World Championships in 1991 .

Her best distance of 22.63 m, which she set up on June 7, 1987, is the current world record to date. After the best marks over 800 meters and 400 meters, it is the third oldest outdoor world record in women's athletics .

Lisovskaya, who is married to the hammer thrower Jurij Sedych , has lived in France since the early 1990s . Their daughter Alexia Sedykh (* 1993) competes in hammer throw for France, won the 2010 Summer Youth Olympic Games and came third at the 2011 European Junior Championships .
