List of the natural spatial units of Lower Austria
In the Lower Austrian Nature Conservation Concept from 2015, a division into regions and main regions is made. Lower Austria is divided into five main regions and 26 regions. In the 1990s, there was an initial breakdown into 124 purely landscaped sub-areas on which the concept is based. The boundaries of the five main regions are defined politically (mostly according to administrative districts, partly according to municipal boundaries). The originally defined sub-areas are divided into different regions or main regions in the nature conservation concept.
