The Republic of the Congo took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . It was the twelfth participation in the Summer Olympics. Ten athletes in five sports were nominated by the Comité National Olympique et Sportif Congolais . The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the athlete Franck Elemba .
