The women's alpine skiing giant slalom at the 2018 Winter Olympics was originally scheduled to take place on February 12, 2018 at 10:15 a.m. local time (2:15 a.m. CET ) in the Yongpyong Alpine Center . However, strong gusts of wind caused the race to be postponed to February 15, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. local time (1:30 a.m. CET ). In between, the men's downhill race took place.
The gold medal was won by Mikaela Shiffrin from the United States. Silver went to the Norwegian Ragnhild Mowinckel and the bronze medal went to Federica Brignone from Italy.
Manuela Mölgg from Italy, who was in the lead after the first run, made a few mistakes in her second run, so that she ended up only in eighth place.
In the first round, Lara Gut from Switzerland fell into a group of photographers and cameramen who were standing on the edge of the slope.
