Pohlhausen is a district in the south of the community Neunkirchen-Seelscheid in the North Rhine-Westphalian Rhein-Sieg district .

location

Pohlhausen is located on the Seelscheid in the Bergisches Land on the municipal border with Lohmar . The village is located east of the B 56 and south of the B 507 , which cross there. The Wahnbachtalsperre is located east of Pohlhausen .

history

The first documentary mention of Pohlhausen is in the oldest memorial book of the St. Gereon Abbey in Cologne . Archbishop Arnold I of Cologne, who died on April 3, 1151, bequeathed 33 denarii in Herkenrath near Pohlhausen (herkerode prope pulhusen) to the monastery to illuminate an altar.

Until the 17th century, Pohlhausen was a small place with five or six houses. He belonged to the Honschaft Herkenrath and was assigned to the parish of Neunkirchen.

Until 1806 the place belonged to the Duchy of Berg , then until 1813 to the French Grand Duchy of Berg and in 1815 it belonged to the Kingdom of Prussia . In 1843 there were 131 people living in 16 residential buildings. Pohlhausen belonged to the mayor's office of Neunkirchen (since 1927 Neunkirchen office) in the Siegkreis until the municipal reform in 1969.

The Church's membership changed in 1844 by the Umpfarrung of St. Margaret of St. Mary's birth in Birk .

Residents

In 1830 Pohlhausen had 96 inhabitants. In 1845 the village had 131 inhabitants, 127 Catholic and 4 Protestant in 16 houses. In 1888 there were 100 residents in 25 houses.

In 1901 the village had 111 inhabitants. The families of teachers Anton Bachem, fielder Wilhelm Josef Fuchs, fielder Adolf, Heinrich and Johann Hauptmann, shoemaker Wilhelm Hauptmann, carpenter Heinrich Josef Inger, landlord and brandy distiller Franz Rudolf Klein, fielder Peter Klein, farmwoman widow Heinrich Mailänder, and fielder Johann are recorded and Peter Mailänder, farm worker Margarethe Ohligschläger, farm worker Wilhelm Salgert, farm worker Konrad Stauf, farm worker Wilhelm Sterzenbach and small trader Heinrich Josef Stommel.

school

In 1828 Pohlhausen received a school for the Catholic children of the Herkenrath community in Hochhausen, Straßen , Wahn, Pohlhausen, Herkenrath and Bruchhausen. Classes took place in a private house until the construction of a school building in 1857.

After the school reform in 1968 the school was closed. After the renovation and modernization, numerous events take place in the basement rooms, which are used as a clubhouse by the “Pohlhausen Transport and Improvement Association”. The private kindergarten located in the school building has meanwhile moved into a new building.

A new building on the former school premises is the location of Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe Pohlhausen. The Pohlhausen ambulance is responsible for Neunkirchen-Seelscheid, parts of Siegburg , Lohmar and Much .

village life

Pohlhausen participates in the Rhenish carnival with its own carnival parade , albeit with one of the smallest parades.

The village is a popular passage area for hikers who like to stop in the village restaurant "Bockenbusch", where events often take place.
