Riviera Beach is a city in Palm Beach County in the US state of Florida with 32,488 inhabitants (as of 2010).
Riviera Beach has a crime rate well above the US average and is statistically one of the most dangerous cities in Palm Beach County. The city also has a very high poverty rate.
geography
The city borders directly north on West Palm Beach and lies on the Atlantic Ocean . According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 25.5 km² . Of this, 21.6 km² are land and 3.9 km² are water.
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 32,488 inhabitants were distributed over 17,124 households. The population density was 1504.1 inh / km². 27.0% of the population identified themselves as whites, 65.9% as African-Americans , 0.4% as Indians and 2.4% as Asian Americans . 2.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.3% to several ethnic groups. 7.4% of the population was Hispanic or Latino .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 33.4% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 29.2% of all households. 64.5% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.60 people and the average family size was 3.22 people.
28.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 25.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 26.4% were 40 to 59 years old, and 20.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 38 years. 47.8% of the population were male and 52.2% were female.
The median annual income was $ 37,555, with 24.1% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the first language of 90.30% of the population, 4.71% spoke Spanish and 4.99% had another mother tongue.

Riviera Beach is just off Interstate 95 . US Highway 1 and Florida State Roads A1A , 708 , 710 and 809 also run through the city . The nearest international airport is Palm Beach Airport at West Palm Beach, 15 km south . In the urban area is the Palm Beach seaport .

The crime rate in 2010 was 711 points (US average: 266 points) in the high range. There were 14 murders, 13 rapes, 125 robberies, 432 assaults, 638 break-ins, 1,050 thefts, 163 car thefts and seven arson attacks.
Others
It is forbidden to wear baggy pants in Riviera Beach . A protest was lodged against the ban, as it violated the 14th amendment to the constitution.
