Dick Brave and the Backbeats
The idea for the fictional character Dick Brave came to Sasha at the end of 2002 when he was taking a break and still wanted to give an unofficial Christmas concert for friends and acquaintances, but not as "Sasha"; Inspired by a poster by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds , the name Dick Brave and the Backbeats was invented. For a long time it was not officially announced that Sasha was behind the character of Dick Brave. A biography was created especially for the role, Dick Brave has a recognizable look, always speaks broken German and is passed off as a Canadian.
As Dick Brave and the Backbeats, Sasha performed "Adriano Batolba" (guitar), Maik Schott "Mike Scott" (piano), Felix Wiegand "Phil X Hanson" (bass) and Martell Beigang "Matt L. Hanson" ( bass) with André Tolba. Drums) released the rockabilly album Dick This in 2003, on which a pop classic from 1961, Take Good Care of My Baby by Carole King and Gerry Goffin , was reissued. The album reached number one in the German charts.
A preliminary farewell concert by Dick Brave took place on December 22nd, 2004 in Dortmund's Westfalenhalle in front of 10,000 fans. The proceeds from the concert were donated to charities. The piece is also included on the album Rock 'n' Roll Therapy , released on October 14, 2011 . Heufer-Umlauf finds a disturbed Dick Brave in the Canadian wilderness, his long break is explained and Dick Brave is being prepared for his comeback.
