Swiss Cup 2006/07

The 83rd Swiss Cup (2003-2008 Swisscom Cup ) took place from September 14, 2007 to April 6, 2008, and FC Basel defended the title against AC Bellinzona .

The mode

The system was slightly changed for the 2007/08 season. The 10 clubs in the Axpo Super League and 17 clubs in the Challenge League were directly qualified for the Swisscom Cup (FC Vaduz from the Challenge League, which took part in the Liechtenstein Cup , was not eligible to play ). These 27 clubs were joined by 11 clubs from the first division and 26 clubs from the amateur league. They had to qualify for the Swisscom Cup in regional competitions.

It was played in a knockout system. Each round took place within a maximum of two days and was postponed by a few months because of the 2008 European Championship . The final took place in April instead of May or June.

1/32 finals (September 14-16, 2007): 64 teams, the winners qualified for the 1/16 finals.

1/16 finals (October 20 and 21, 2007): 32 teams, the winners qualified for the round of 16.

Round of 16 (November 24 and 25, 2007): 16 teams, the winners qualified for the quarter finals.

Quarter-finals (December 15 and 16, 2007): 8 teams, the winners qualified for the semi-finals.

Semi-finals (February 27 and 28, 2008): 4 teams, the winners qualified for the final.

Final (April 6, 2008): The winner won the 83rd Swiss Cup.

The home team was considered to be the winner of the first semi-final. The date of the event was also pushed forward because of the European Championship. The final took place on April 6, 2008.
