history

1986-1993

Scooter in the 90s: Rick J Jordan, Ferris Bueller, HP Baxxter

The front man of Scooter, HP Baxxter , met Rick J. Jordan , then keyboard player in several Hanoverian bands, through a classified ad in 1986 . Together with Baxxter's sister Britt and the drummer Slin Tompson (Nils Enghusen, formerly The POX ), they founded the synth-pop band Celebrate the Nun . After the group broke up, Jordan set up his first recording studio in his basement. HP Baxxter started working for the indie label Edel Music and met the manager Jens Thele there. In 1993 HP Baxxter, Rick J. Jordan, Jens Thele and Baxxter's cousin Sören Bühler (artist name: Ferris Bueller) founded the remix band The Loop . This released remixes for Marky Mark , Holly Johnson and RuPaul .

1994-1998

Scooter was created during the production of the track Vallée de Larmes . The main sequence of the track was reminiscent of a fair and the well-known bumper car . The track was released on CD in February 1994 and reached number 8 in the German dance charts. Hyper Hyper was released in May . Its vocals of the same name are based on Annihilating Rhythm by the Scottish act Ultra-Sonic . This title was the style for many of the later produced pieces Scooters. Hyper Hyper reached the top 5 across Europe. The following hits Move Your Ass! , Friends , Endless Summer and Back in the UK reached the top 5 of the charts. Scooter entered the British charts with Back in the UK .

The debut album released in January 1995 … and the Beat Goes On! reached number 25. The follow-up albums Our Happy Hardcore and Wicked! , both of which were released in 1996, were more commercially successful, with the second single from Our Happy Hardcore , Let Me Be Your Valentine , reaching number 14 on the charts. Rebel Yell was a cover version of Billy Idol 's 1984 hit of the same name. With Wicked! Scooter significantly reduced the number of bpm . The first release I'm Raving (based on the ballad Walking in Memphis by Marc Cohn from 1991) reached number 4, the ballad Break It Up reached number 15. In numerous songs, borrowed passages from the radio show The Steve Mason were found Experience that was broadcast weekly on BFBS , especially from the vocal passages of the occasional guest MC Mystic Man .

In the following year, the song Fire was one of the highest new entries in the single charts, which also became known as the entrance and touchdown theme of Düsseldorf Rhein Fire . The Age of Love album was released, and the Age of Love tour marked the start of the first indoor scooter tour. At the end of 1997, No Fate was released, a rather calm piece. The single reached number 39 on the charts.

In 1998 Ferris left the band and was replaced by Axel Coon. Shortly thereafter, How Much Is the Fish? released. The song became a great success in Germany. The second single from the album No Time to Chill , released on July 20, 1998, was released as a double A single. A separate music video was shot for both We Are the Greatest and I Was Made for Lovin 'You (cover of the 1979 hit by the US rock band Kiss ). The single was not a commercial success, however.

The next single from the album was Call Me Mañana . This was released in early 1999 and again contained a well-known melody passage from James Brown Is Dead by LA Style . The album version did not contain this sample . Another album, Back to the Heavyweight Jam , was released towards the end of the year . It brought Scooter a gold award for an LP for the first time in Germany. Singles were Faster Harder Scooter and Fuck the Millennium . The latter was completely restructured for the single release and only has a few passages in common with the album version. A well-known melody has also been incorporated here: Wheels by Jimmy Torres from 1960, of which dozens of cover versions already exist.

The single I'm Your Pusher (based on Flieger, greet me the sun ), which was released on May 1, 2000, became the title track of the VIVA On Road Tour 2000 and was the first release from the following album Sheffield . Under the pseudonym Ratty , Scooter also released the single Sunrise (Here I Am) in 2000 . The title became a hit in the large techno clubs. Ratty's follow-up track Living on Video was not a great success. For the project Pop 2001 Scooter contributed a cover version of the 1978 hit Am Fenster by the band City . In May 2001 the next single, Posse (I Need You on the Floor) , was released, which made it to number 7 in Germany. The next album We Bring the Noise! was able to prevail. The second single, Aiii Shot the DJ , made it to number 29. The accompanying video clip features a guest appearance by comedian and musician Helge Schneider . In December, the single Ramp! (The Logical Song) , a cover version of the Supertramp song The Logical Song released. On the following tour in early 2002, Coon had to go to hospital. DJ Jay Frog took his place. Shortly thereafter, Axel Coon split from Scooter and was replaced by Jay Frog .

On February 11, 2002, the single Nessaja was released under the pseudonym 3 AM, initially without vocals by Baxxter on Kontor Records . It contains a passage from a song of the same name from Peter Maffay's musical series Tabaluga . Two months later, on April 8, 2002, the version with Baxxter's voice was also released. The song landed at number one in the German single charts . In March 2003 the band released the album The Stadium Techno Experience .

In March 2004 the group took part in the preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 , where they performed their song Jigga Jigga! lectured. They came in second behind Max Mutzke . In February, Scooter received the Echo in the Dance Act National category for the second time . In 2004 the band toured Germany, Austria and Switzerland with the We-Like-It-Loud tour for the ten-year anniversary of the band. On December 6, 2004, Scooter released the follow-up single to Shake That! (a cover version of Shake Your Booty by KC and the Sunshine Band ) entitled One (Always Hardcore) , which hit the top 10 on the charts. This single contains a replayed melody from Cappella's Move on Baby (1994). The vocals and another subtle melody are also based on the happy hardcore song Always Hardcore (Radio Mix) (whose vocals are based on Pearl Jams Alive ) by Bodylotion (Neophyte) from 1996.

In 2004, she also released her studio album Mind the Gap , which among other things, a cover of Stripped by Depeche Mode included in all versions of the album. The same song appeared on their later live album Excess All Areas . In 2007 they produced an orchestral version of the song, which was released as a download. On March 7, 2005, the single Suavemente was released , which samples the merengue hit of the same name by Elvis Crespo . In September 2005 Scooter gave a concert in the USA for the first time . In the Allstate Arena in Chicago , the group was the main act after three local DJs and Aquagen and the Benassi Brothers and played in front of 8000 fans. The new single Hello! (Good to Be Back) , which was released in October 2005. The album Who's Got the Last Laugh Now? appeared in November. The 33rd single Apache Rocks the Bottom! . Scooter (2008)

The Hamburg DJ and producer Michael Simon has been a new member of the band since August 14, 2006. He replaces Jay Frog. On December 1, 2006, the band presented their single Behind the Cow , which reached number 17 in the German charts. The album The Ultimate Aural Orgasm was released in February 2007 and entered the album charts at number 6. The second single, Let's dance , was released in March and made it to number 19 in the singles charts. A club tour followed in April. In August 2007 the band performed as a live act at the wedding of Gülcan and Sebastian Kamps. The single The Question Is What Is the Question? reached number 5 in the German single charts.

In November 2007 the 13th Scooter album Jumping All Over the World was released . The single And No Matches was released a week earlier . This was the first time since 1996 that a second studio album was released within a year. The single reached number 9 in the German charts. In February 2008, Jumping All Over the World was released as the third single . The single was slightly changed to the album version and reached number 15 in the German single charts. The Jumping All Over the World Tour began in Karlsruhe at the end of March and ended in Cologne in mid-April.

The fourth single, a completely revised version of I'm Lonely , reached number 8 in the German single charts. On April 30, 2008, the album Jumping All Over the World was released in England and reached number 1 in the official English album charts as well as a platinum award for 300,000 albums sold. The group won the Golden Music Award for the album. It represents a chart record for Scooter: No other album by the band stayed in the charts for so long (38 weeks). The re-release of the album under the title Jumping All Over the World - Whatever You Want ensured another sales boost . The new version contained the revised version of I'm Lonely seven new "old" tracks; successful scooter singles were reinterpreted under the project name Hands on Scooter by various artists such as the Bloodhound Gang or the Klostertalern . The song Move your ass by Sido was released as a single that reached the German Top 20. A second CD of the album contained all of the band's top ten hits and the new song Jump That Rock (Whatever You Want) , which, also released as a single, climbed to number 11 in the German charts.

2009-2013

Scooter (2012)

On August 14th, 2009 Scooter released the single J'adore Hardcore as a release from the new album Under the Radar Over the Top . The piece reached number 12 in the German single charts. In addition to the album, the second release Ti Sento was released on October 2, 2009 , a cover version of the song of the same name by the Italian band Matia Bazar from 1985. The vocals are from the original interpreter Antonella Ruggiero . The song reached number 10 on the charts. In November, the single The Sound Above My Hair was released.

With Stuck on Replay , Scooter delivered the official song of the 2010 Ice Hockey World Championship , which took place in Germany in May 2010. The single was released in March. Scooter also performed live in front of 77,803 spectators at the opening match Germany - USA in the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen . In March 2010 Scooter started their under-the-radar-over-the-top tour for the album of the same name.

On April 15, 2011, the single Friends Turbo was released. It is also the soundtrack of the film New Kids Turbo, which opened in theaters on April 21, 2011 . Scooter shot the music video for Friends Turbo together with Tim Haars ( Gerrie van Boven ). On May 20, 2011 Scooter released the single The Only One . Scooters were committed to learning to read and write. As part of the “iCHANCE” campaign, which is carried out by the Federal Association for Literacy and Basic Education , HP Baxxter made its statement against illiteracy .

On October 14, 2011, the new album The Big Mash Up was released with the single David Doesn't Eat . In this album, from which a total of four singles were extracted, Scooter integrated the increasingly popular electronic music genre Dubstep . A special feature of the album was the so-called Suck My Megamix , an 80-minute mix of all the singles that had been released up to then, on a separate CD . On September 7, 2012, the single 4 AM was released as a pre-release of the new album Music for a Big Night Out , which was released on November 2, 2012. On this album, with the appearance of which the single Army of Hardcore was released, there are hardly any dubstep elements, but more house and progressive trance elements. In contrast to The Big Mash Up , which was relatively poorly received, the album was also able to place itself in the top 10 of the German album charts . On the occasion of the band's 20th anniversary in 2013, the band announced that they would reissue all Scooter albums up to and including The Big Mash Up in a special edition called 20 Years of Hardcore . In addition to the original album, these remastered versions also contain single versions and remixes as well as B-sides .

Since 2014

Scooter, 2018

The rights to use Khalifa's vocals on this track are owned by the record label Kontor Records, with which Scooter is under contract. In September 2014 the first album of the new band formation The Fifth Chapter was released , which reached number 8 in the German album charts. In February 2016, the band's 18th studio album, Ace, was released. It reached the top 10 of the German sales charts and thus became Scooter's ninth top 10 album in Germany. The single Oi was released at the same time as the album and was only released digitally. In May 2017 the single Bora was released! Bora! Bora! .

In August 2017 the band performed in Crimea . The Ukrainian authorities see this as a criminal offense, as in 2017 with Yulia Olegovna Samoilova . In September 2017 the 19th studio album Scooter Forever was released. The song My Gabber was released with Jebroer as a second single . After Phil Speiser left the band in October 2018, Etnik Zarari stepped in for a short time. Sebastian Schilde has been a new member of the band since 2019.
On March 27, 2020 Scooter gave a concert under the mottos "Stayhome" and "I want you to stream" (due to the ban on contact due to the COVID-19 pandemic ). The concert was live a. a. streamed on their YouTube channel and ran for a little over 1 hour.
