history
The area of Münchendorf was settled as early as the Neolithic Age (around 5000–2000 BC). In the following Bronze Age, Nordic cattle breeders lived here, later Illyrians . The settlement by the Celts followed , then by the Romans . Under the latter, the area belonged to the province of pannonia superior . On the current route of the Eisenstädter Bundesstraße ( Ödenburger Straße ) B 16 there was probably a road to Ödenburg .
The name of the place should come from the time of Charlemagne around 800. A Father Dominicus was awarded the property. The short form of Dominicus is Minigo . In the dialect one speaks of Mingadoaf even today . But it was not until 1147 that Minichdorf was first mentioned in a document when it was donated by the Babenbergers to the Heiligenkreuz Abbey.
The troubled times of the first and second Turkish sieges followed . (See also history of the parish church ).
In the first half of the 19th century, textile manufacturers were set up here, as in the neighboring communities. The viticulture was only just received, but by the entrainment of phylloxera from America many gardens were destroyed.
In the chaos of the First World War , the cotton mill, which had now become an industrial company, had to close.
In 1938 the municipality lost its independence like all the peripheral municipalities of Vienna and became part of the 24th district of Greater Vienna , where it remained until 1954.

Only a few larger companies are based in the village. In terms of traffic, Münchendorf is easily accessible on the one hand thanks to the south-east motorway , which was only completed in 1996, and on the other hand it is freed from through traffic that used to take place on Ödenburger Straße B16. The commuters from the surrounding area such as Ebreichsdorf or the others from Burgenland all had to drive through the town to get to their workplaces in Vienna .

As the quality of life improves, more and more Viennese are moving into the community again.
