Vauchamps is a French commune with 360 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Marne department in the Grand Est region (before 2016 Champagne-Ardenne ). It belongs to the Arrondissement Épernay and the canton Sézanne-Brie et Champagne (until 2015 Montmirail ).
geography
Vauchamps is about a hundred kilometers east-southeast of central Paris . Vauchamps is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Montmirail in the north and west, Corrobert in the north, Janvilliers in the east and northeast, Le Thoult-Trosnay in the east and southeast, Boissy-le-Repos in the south and Bergères-sous-Montmirail in the southwest.
history
On February 14, 1814, the Battle of Vauchamps took place here during the Napoleonic Wars of Liberation. The battle led to a withdrawal of the Silesian troops, which suffered heavy losses, while the losses of the Napoleonic troops remained moderate.
