Villeneuve is a French commune with 4,196 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence in the region Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur . It belongs to the Arrondissement Forcalquier and is part of the Canton of Oraison . The inhabitants are called Villeneuvois .

geography

Villeneuve is located between the Durance , Lauzon and Largue rivers . The municipality is part of the Luberon Regional Nature Park and the Coteaux de Pierrevert wine region . Villeneuve is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Niozelles in the north, La Brillanne in the northeast, Oraison in the east and northeast, Valensole in the southeast, Volx in the south and southwest, Saint-Maime in the west and Forcalquier in the northwest. The Autoroute A51 and the former Route nationale 96 (today's D4096) run through the municipality .
