The Woodstage Summer Open Air was a music festival that was originally held annually in Glauchau's Gründelpark. After the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig and the M'era Luna Festival in Hildesheim, the festival established itself as number 3 of the most important events in independent culture and the black scene in Germany.

history

The first Woodstage Summer Open Air took place on May 27, 1995 on the “Waldbühne” in Augustusburg near Chemnitz . The following year it was moved to Glauchau, where it has taken place ever since.

In 2001 the festival was canceled after the storm came. On September 29, 2001 it was brought to an end with a “dry concert” in the Chemnitz ice rink.

In 2002 the Open Air took place for the first time on two days, which was repeated in 2004 with the celebration of the tenth anniversary.

In 2005 the Woodstage made an exceptional guest appearance in Dresden , as the location in Glauchau did not allow the event to take place on the set date.

In 2006, for the first time in eleven years, no Woodstage Summer Open Air was held, and one year later, in 2007, the last Woodstage Festival took place. In 2008 and 2009 the festival was canceled and since then the organizer has made no noticeable efforts to revive the festival. At the end of November 2016, the organizer InMove announced that it would organize a Woodstage Summer Open Air Special with Marilyn Manson and “Special Guests” in Dresden in July 2017 .
