The Austrian women's soccer championship was held for the 47th time in 2018/19 after the 35-year break between 1938 and 1972. The top division is the ÖFB Women's Bundesliga and was held for the 6th time. The second highest division ( 2nd division ), this season the 40th edition, was divided into two regional leagues, with the 2nd division middle / west being held for the 10th time and the 2nd division east / south for the 8th time . The season lasts from mid-August to mid-June.

Austrian football champion was SKN St. Pölten for the 5th time in a row . The champions of the second highest division were RW Rankweil (middle / west) and SV Horn (east / south). In the relegation games, SV Horn was able to prevail and was thus entitled to play in the ÖFB Women's Bundesliga in the 2019/20 season .

    Second performance level - 2nd division

    The second performance level consisted of two leagues, separated by region:

    • 2. League Middle / West with the clubs from Upper Austria ( OFV ), Salzburg ( SFV ), Tyrol ( TFV ) and Vorarlberg ( VFV ) and
    • 2. League East / South with the clubs from Burgenland ( BFV ), Carinthia ( KFV ), Lower Austria ( NÖFV ), Styria ( StFV ) and Vienna ( WFV ).

    In the 2nd division , a maximum of 24 teams play for promotion to the ÖFB Women's Bundesliga. In the 2017/18 season, a total of 13 teams played for promotion to the ÖFB Women's Bundesliga, 5 second teams from clubs were not eligible for promotion.

    The general mode stipulates that each team competed against each other in the respective league. The champions of the two leagues played in a relegation for promotion to the ÖFB Women's Bundesliga. The bottom of the table in each league was relegated.

    2nd division middle / west

    Relegation to the 2nd division center / west

    No relegation games were played either in the regional league in the middle region or in the regional league west for the new nationwide 2nd division. There were no clubs that wanted to advance without relegation.

    Relegation to the 2nd league east / south

    No relegation games were played in either the Landesliga Ost-Region or the Landesliga Süd-Region for the new nationwide 2nd division. Since no club wanted to move up in the Landesliga Mitte-Region or in the Landesliga West-Region, Wiener Sport-Club as champion of the Vienna Women's State League and SC Neusiedl am See as runner-up in the Vienna Women's State League took the chance in the 2 .Liga 2019/20 to start.
