The Ķegums district (Ķeguma novads) is located in the center of Latvia in the historic Livonia countryside , about 50 km east-southeast of the capital Riga .
geography
The sub-municipalities of the district are located in the historical landscapes of Livonia and Zemgale , north and south of the Daugava . The traffic connection is through the navigable dam of the Ķegums hydroelectric power station built in 1939 .
population
The district consists of the four parishes (pagasts) Rembate, Birzgale, Tome and the administrative center Ķegums . 6306 inhabitants (2010) live in the Ķegums district.
