The district of Aglona (Aglonas novads) is located in southeastern Latvia in the historic Latgale region .

geography

The area is rich in forests and lakes. Lake Rušon lies on the northern border of the area . The area is visited by tourists because of the Catholic pilgrimage church of Aglona.

population

The district consists of the three parishes (pagasts) Grāveri, Kastuļina, Šķeltovai and the administrative center Aglona . 4561 inhabitants (2009) live in the Aglona district.
