History & Acquisitions

ANSYS was founded in 1970 by John Swanson as Swanson Analysis Systems Inc. (SASI). From 1994 it was taken over by various companies.

At the end of 2019, ANSYS will take over Weimar- based Dynardo GmbH, which develops the CAE software OptiSLang .

The ANSYS Germany GmbH is the German subsidiary of ANSYS, Inc. with offices in Darmstadt, Otterfing near Munich and Hanover.

The focus of the portfolio of the German branch is flow simulation (CFD), multiphysics applications as well as simulation solutions for electromechanical, low and high frequency electrical and magnetic phenomena. In addition to its software solutions, ANSYS Germany offers the entire spectrum of services such as development, sales, support and consulting, comprehensive training programs and software development on behalf of customers.

Competence Center

CADFEM GmbH, based in Grafing near Munich, has been the official ANSYS Competence Center FEM for the Central Europe region since the 1980s . The sales partner has locations in Grafing near Munich, Stuttgart , Hanover , Chemnitz , Dortmund and Berlin as well as Vienna , Innsbruck , Aadorf , Lausanne and Mittelland . In addition to the ANSYS programs, Motor-CAD, Rocky-DEM and the CADFEM ANSYS Extensions are also offered, which can be integrated directly into ANSYS Workbench.
