Azay-sur-Thouet is a French commune with 1,148 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Poitou-Charentes ). It belongs to the Parthenay arrondissement and the La Gâtine canton (until 2015: Secondigny canton ). The inhabitants are called Azéens .

geography

Azay-sur-Thouet is located about eight kilometers west-southwest of Parthenay on the small Thouet river and is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Aubin-le-Cloud in the north, Le Tallud in the east, Saint-Pardoux-Soutiers in the south and southeast, Allonne in the south and southwest and Secondigny in the west.
