Viennay is about four kilometers north of Parthenay . Viennay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Lageon in the north, Gourgé in the east, La Peyratte in the southeast, Châtillon-sur-Thouet in the south and west and Amailloux in the west.

Route nationale 149 runs along the western edge of the municipality .
