Saurais is a French municipality with 189 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement Parthenay and the canton La Gâtine (until 2015: canton Thénezay ).

Saurais is about 37 kilometers west-northwest of Poitiers and about nine kilometers east-southeast of Parthenay . Saurais is surrounded by the neighboring communities of La Peyratte in the north, La Ferrière-en-Parthenay in the east, Saint-Martin-du-Fouilloux in the south and La Chapelle-Bertrand in the west.
