Clessé is a French municipality with 954 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the Parthenay arrondissement and the Cerizay canton .

The municipality is located around 15 kilometers northwest of Parthenay and 15 kilometers southeast of Bressuire in the Gâtine countryside . Neighboring municipalities to Clessé are:

The northern part of the municipality is drained by several small watercourses to the Thouaret , a tributary of the Thouet , in the southern part the rivers Cébron and Palais , which also flow into the Thouet, have their source. In addition to a large number of small lakes, the municipality also has the Étang de Fréaux reservoir , which extends to the neighboring municipality of Saint-Germain-de-Longue-Chaume .

The community is located at a crossroads of local traffic routes. The departmental road D19 connects Moncoutant and Parthenay , the D46 leads from Saint-Loup-sur-Thouet via Airvault to Moncontour and the D139 from Saint-Pardoux to Bressuire .

The municipality was formerly crossed by a railway line that ran from Parthenay to Bressuire . However, the operation was discontinued, today there is a national cycle path ( Voie Verte ) on the railway embankment .
