British Open Squash Championships 1998

The British Open Squash Championships 1998 took place from March 27 to April 5, 1998 in Birmingham , United Kingdom . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 1997/98 and belonged to the PSA Super Series Silver category . The prize pool was $ 79,000. The women's squash tournament was part of the WSA Tour 1997/98 and belonged to the WSA Gold 50 category . The prize pool was $ 51,000.

Defending champion in the men's race was Jansher Khan , who won the 1997 final against Peter Nicol . Both reached the final again, this time Nicol won 17:16, 15: 4 and 15: 5. In the women's category, Michelle Martin defended her title from last year. In a new edition of last year's final, she prevailed against Sarah Fitz-Gerald with 9: 4, 9: 2 and 9: 1.

The participant fields consisted of 32 players each, eight of which were reserved for qualifiers. The best 16 players in each case were seeded.
