Defending champion for men was Grégory Gaultier , for women Nicol David . World champion Ramy Ashour canceled his participation on May 4, 2015 due to an injury. In the women's final, Camille Serme beat Laura Massaro 11: 3, 11: 5, 8:11 and 11: 8. This was Serme's first title in a World Series tournament. In the men's category, Mohamed Elshorbagy defeated defending champion Gaultier 11: 9, 6:11, 5:11, 11: 8 and 11: 5 and won his first British Open title.
The field of participants in the men's competition consisted of 32 players, eight of which were reserved for qualifiers. The eight best players were seeded. In the women's competition there were also 32 players, 16 of whom were seeded. Of the other 16 places, eight were reserved for qualifiers. Per Wildcard received Adrian Waller and Victoria like a starting place in the respective main field.
At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. Players who entered the main field from qualification received the specified qualification points in addition to those for reaching the respective round.
