British Open Squash Championships 2002

The British Open Squash Championships 2002 took place from April 10-15, 2002 in London and Manchester , United Kingdom . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2001/02 and belonged to the 5 Star category . It was endowed with $ 50,000. The women's squash tournament was part of the WSA World Tour 2001/02 and belonged to the WSA Gold 35 category . It was endowed with $ 36,000.

Defending champion in the men's race was David Palmer , who lost to Alex Gough in four sets in the round of 16 this year . In the final, top seeded Peter Nicol defeated his sixth seeded opponent John White in 46 minutes with 15: 9, 15: 8 and 15: 8. The top seeded Sarah Fitz-Gerald managed to defend the women's title. She moved into the final without losing a set, where she defeated Tania Bailey 9: 3, 9: 0 and 9: 0.

The participant fields consisted of 32 players each, eight of which were reserved for qualifiers. The best 16 players in each case were seeded. A wildcard was not awarded. The qualification, the first round and the round of 16 were played in London, from the quarter-finals onwards the game was played in Manchester.
