Allam British Open 2019

The Allam British Open 2019 took place in Kingston upon Hull in the United Kingdom from May 20-26, 2019 . The venue was the University of Hull . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 2018/19 and belonged to the PSA World Tour Platinum category . At the same time, a women's squash tournament of the 2018/19 PSA World Tour took place. It also belonged to the PSA World Tour Platinum category .

Last year's winners were Miguel Ángel Rodríguez for the men and Nour El Sherbini for the women. Rodríguez failed in the quarterfinals against Mohamed Elshorbagy , who also reached the final and defeated the top seeded Ali Farag with 11: 9, 11: 5, 5:11 and 11: 9. This is the third time Elshorbagy has won the title at the tournament after 2015 and 2016 . In the women’s race, Nouran Gohar , seeded seventh, prevailed, defeating Camille Serme 11: 3, 11: 8 and 11: 3 in the final . With their respective resignation ended Nicol David , Laura Massaro , Jenny Duncalf and Fiona Moverley their longstanding careers.

The fields of participation in the men's and women's competition consisted of 48 players each. The eight best male players and the 16 best female players were seeded. Per Wildcard were Joshua Masters and Patrick Rooney in the men's and Lucy Turmel and Jasmine Hutton a spot in the main draw in the women each.

At the tournament, the following prize money and world ranking points were paid out or credited for reaching the respective round. The amounts are not to be understood as cumulative. The total prize money was US $ 177,000 each.
