Hi-Tec British Open 1989

The Hi-Tec British Open 1989 took place from April 10 to 17, 1989 in London district Wembley in the UK instead. The venue was the Wembley Conference Center . The men's squash tournament was part of the PSA World Tour 1988/89 and belonged to the PSA 5 Star rating category . The prize pool was $ 68,000. The women's squash tournament was part of the WSA Tour 1988/89 .

As in previous years, the defending champion for the men was Jahangir Khan . Khan defended his title for the eighth time in a row, defeating Rodney Martin again in last year's final , this time 9: 2, 3: 9, 9: 5, 0: 9 and 9: 2. In the women’s category, Susan Devoy secured her sixth title in a row. She defeated Martine Le Moignan in the final with 8:10, 10: 8, 9: 3 and 9: 6.

The participant fields consisted of 32 players each, eight of which were reserved for qualifiers. The best 16 players were seeded.
