The Cadillac Model B was the second model from the US automobile manufacturer Cadillac .
Presented at the second, beginning in 1904 and until 1905 built Cadillac it was a constructive modified Model A . The rounded front end plate was replaced by a box-shaped structure and the bent frame of the predecessor gave way to a pressed steel box frame.
Like its predecessor, the Model B was powered by a single-cylinder engine from Leland & Faulconer (type "Little Hercules") that was placed under the left front seat and transferred its power to the rear wheels via a two-speed planetary gear.
The Model B was available in four different versions: as a two-seater runabout, as a four-seater with an additional attachment at the rear (entry from the rear), called a tonneau, as a deluxe two-seater and as a four-seater Surrey with side access to the rear seats.
In 1905, the specified power of the single cylinder rose from 8.25 to 9 hp and the car was delivered with a wider track (154.9 instead of 138.3 cm) on request.
In 1904 Cadillac produced a total of 2319 vehicles, and the following year 4029 vehicles of all series.
Derivatives of Model B
Several other Cadillac models with single-cylinder engines were based on the Model B between 1905 and 1908 .
The individual models were:
- Model C (Spring / Summer 1905): a Model B with the larger "hood" and radiator of the Cadillac Model F;
- Model E (1905): two-seater open runabout with a larger engine hood, on which there were side vents;
- Model F (1905): like Model E, but wheelbase extended by 5 cm, available as deluxe two-seater or four-seater touring car with non-removable tonneau structure and side doors;
- Model K (1906/07): slightly modified chassis, new body (called "Victoria"), available as a two-seater Victoria Runabout;
- Model M (1906–1908): like Model K, wheelbase extended by 5 cm, offered as a four-seater Victoria touring car or two-seater delivery model (1907 also as a closed two-seater Victoria Coupé, 1908 only as a delivery);
- Model S (1908): wheelbase extended to 208.3 cm, available with two different open runabout structures, continuous side running boards instead of simple steps, on request with rear single emergency seat or emergency bench;
- Model T (1908): like Model S, but with body as an open four-seater touring car or as a closed Victoria Coupé.
Prices for Model C through T: $ 750 to $ 1,350, quantities unknown.
Single-cylinder production ended at Cadillac in 1908; from 1909 the brand turned to the luxury car market with the model Thirty .
