The German three-cushion championship 1980/81 (DDM) was the 47th edition of this tournament series and took place from January 26 to February 1, 1981 in Velbert .
The Billard-Verband Niederrhein eV, as the local organizer, organized the three-cushion championship in the sports hall of the vocational school center in Velbert.
After losing the final in the previous year, Günter Siebert from Essen turned the tables in 1981 and won the final against his long-term three-cushion competitor Dieter Müller from Berlin. However, Müller achieved all tournament records and played with 1.764 the best individual average (BED) that has been played at German championships so far. For the first time a game was decided by penalty. At the end of the match between Johann Waiz and Falko Willenberger it was 60:60. Waiz won 1-0 in extra time.
