The Divizia B 1998/99 was the 59th season of the second highest Romanian football league . FC Brasov , extensive Craiova and AS Rocar Bucharest via the play-offs rose in the Divizia A on.

mode

The league was played in two seasons with 18 teams each. The two winners were promoted directly to Divizia A, while the runner-ups were also promoted through the play-offs. The last three clubs were relegated to Divizia C. There were three points for a win, one for a draw and no point for a loss. If two or more teams were tied at the end of the season, it was not the goal difference that decided , but the direct comparison .
