DuPont de Nemours (until June 2019: DowDuPont ) is a US company . It is one of the world's largest chemical companies and is active in around 90 countries. In the Forbes Global 2000 of the world's largest companies, DowDuPont ranks 122nd (as of fiscal year 2017). The company had a market value of over USD 155 billion in mid-2018.

Merger between Dow and DuPont

A proposed merger between Dow Chemical and EI du Pont de Nemours and Company was first announced in December 2015. On September 1, 2017, the merger was finally completed and incorporated into the new company DowDuPont. It was planned to split up the new company DowDuPont within 18 months separately according to industries and application areas. These industries are:

  • Agriculture (agrochemicals)
The Agriculture division was separated on June 3, 2019. The new company is called Corteva, Inc.
  • Materials Science (plastics)
The Materials Science division was separated on April 1, 2019. The company goes by the name Dow, Inc.
  • Specialty Products (specialty chemicals)
The division has been the company's only remaining division since June 3, 2019.

After the division

After Corteva was split off on June 3, 2019, the company renamed itself to DuPont de Nemours, Inc.

After the spin-off from Corteva and Dow, DuPont operates the following production locations in Germany in addition to the German headquarters in Neu-Isenburg: Niebüll, Hamm-Uentrop, Stade, Bomlitz, Schkopau and Wiesbaden.

DuPont de Nemours led the Toxic 100 Water Polluters Index in 2019, making it the largest polluter of water in the United States. The predecessor company EI du Pont de Nemours and Company , from which DuPont de Nemours emerged, was involved in several environmental scandals, including the contamination of drinking water in Parkersburg , the production of CFCs and the spread of misinformation regarding the chemical perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), which is strong is bioaccumulative .
