The 1970/71 season of the ice hockey league was the 13th season of the league as the second highest German ice hockey division under the Bundesliga . Master and thus direct climber in the top division was Preussen Krefeld , which however dissolved in July 1971.
The EC Hannover rose to be the last Regional from. After the season, the SG Oberstdorf / Sonthofen and the Berlin FC Preussen disbanded and Eintracht Frankfurt voluntarily withdrew.

The champion rose directly to the Bundesliga , while the last placed had to relegate to the corresponding group of the regional league.
