Patrice Héral (* 1965 in Montpellier ) is a French jazz percussionist.

Live and act

Héral trained largely self-taught and was a student of Alain Joule and Barre Phillips . Until 1990 he worked a. a. with the street theater group Compagnie Malabar Paillasson and the band Tropique du Cancer . Since 1990 he has worked in Vienna , where he has performed with the saxophonist Georg Graf at the Theater im Kopf , with the accordionist Otto Lechner (with whom he also founded the Wiener Ziehharmoniker ), accompanied the cabaret artists Josef Hader and Otto Grünmandl and with musicians like Max Nagl , João de Bruçó , Toni Burger , Paul Urbanek , Karl Sayer , Bumi Fian , Andy Manndorff , Stephan Aschböck , Joanna Lewis , Leszek Zadlo and Alegre Corrêa . He recorded two albums with Nicolas Simion , Tomasz Stańko and Ed Schuller .

He also took part in multiethnic projects with the Sudanese Abdel Karim al Khâbli and the singer Timna Brauer and in 1994 went on a tour of Russia with the singer Sainkho Namtchylak . Since 1992 he has been working with the Italian singer Etta Scollo ; He also accompanied the songwriter Claude Martí .

In the 1990s he commuted between Vienna, Berlin , Oslo and his hometown and worked among other things. a. with Gérard Pansanel , Doudou Gouirand , Frédéric Monino , Michel Marre , Terje Rypdal , Tore Brunborg , Kirsten Brattenberg, Nguyên Lê , Renaud Garcia-Fons , Wolfgang Puschnig , Dhafer Youssef , Antonello Salis , Furio Di Castri , Paolo Fresu , Tom Cora , Iva Bittová , Wolfgang Muthspiel , Michel Portal , Chano Domínguez , Charlie Mariano , Ferenc Snétberger , Steve Swallow , Ralph Towner , John Taylor and Maria Pia De Vito together. He also worked in a trio with Arild Andersen and Markus Stockhausen , with Arild Andersen and Carsten Dahl , and with Dieter Ilg and Rainer Böhm . Between 2005 and 2007 he was a member of the Orchester National de Jazz under Franck Tortiller ; he also belonged to the Pago Libre ensemble with John Wolf Brennan , Tscho Theissing , Arkady Shilkloper and Georg Breinschmid . He also played with Asja Valčić , Klaus Paier and Rolf Kühn .
