Helmut Baur (born August 24, 1944 in Singen ) is a German cyclist and has been a pacemaker in standing races and derny races since 1973 .

With one title in the UEC Derny European Championship , three German championships in the standing race, four German championship titles in the derny race and four Swiss championships in the standing race, Helmut Baur is one of the most successful active German pacemakers. Helmut Baur has also been a recognized guide at a cycling camp on Mallorca for years and is therefore an active cyclist himself for a few months every spring. Son Thomas Baur follows in his footsteps as a pacemaker.

In September 2014, Baur ended his career as a pacemaker.
