Köbach is a district of the municipality of Much in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Köbach is located on the upper reaches of the Werschbach . The eponymous Köbach, here flowing into the Werschbach from the right, has a larger name brother, the next right tributary of the Werschbach, after which the southern neighboring town in its valley in the municipality of Neunkirchen-Seelscheid is named. Other neighboring towns are Feld in the northwest and Oberhausen in the northeast. Köbach can be reached via Landesstraße 352 .

history

Köbach was first mentioned in a document in 1487.

In 1901 Köbach was a hamlet with 52 inhabitants. The households Anna Catharina Balensiefen, Gertrud, widow Gottfried and Margaretha Balensiefer, Wilhelm Balensiefer, Wilhelm Eimermacher, Heinrich, Heinrich Wilhelm and Joh. Peter Franken, Peter Josef Hoscheid, Joh. Siebert and Peter Weber were recorded. Except for the wheelwright Siebert, everyone was in the village of Ackerer .

In 1944, a German plane crashed near the village after a lost aerial combat.
