Lake Park is a city in Palm Beach County in the US state of Florida with 8,155 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

The city is 4 km north of West Palm Beach . Lake Park is crossed and tangent to by US Highway 1 and Florida State Roads A1A and 850 . In addition, Interstate 95 runs in the immediate vicinity in a north-south direction past the city area.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 8155 inhabitants were distributed among 3742 households. The population density was 1456.3 inh / km². 37.4% of the population identified themselves as whites , 55.0% as African American , 0.2% as Indians and 2.4% as Asian Americans . 2.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.8% to several ethnic groups. 8.0% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 32.2% of all households and persons aged 65 or over lived in 22.5% of all households. 60.1% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.28.

27.6% of the population were younger than 20 years, 27.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 28.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 16.1% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 36 years. 48.3% of the population were male and 51.7% were female.

The median annual income was $ 42,583, with 20.3% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 76.01% of the population, 13.11% spoke Haitian , 5.83% spoke Spanish, and 5.05% had another mother tongue.

Attractions

On September 3, 1981, the Kelsey City City Hall was inscribed on the National Register of Historic Places .

crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 502 points (US average: 266 points) in the high range. There was one rape, 25 robberies, 47 assaults, 116 break-ins, 478 thefts and 30 car thefts.
