The women's discus throw at the 1986 European Athletics Championships was held on August 28, 1986 in the Neckar Stadium in Stuttgart .
In this competition there were two medals, gold and bronze, for the discus throwers of the GDR. European champion was Diana Sachse , later Diana Gansky. Bulgarian defending champion Tsvetanka Christowa came in second . Martina Hellmann , as Martina Opitz world champion in 1983 , won the bronze medal.
