Lyudmila Andrejewna Kondratjewa

Lyudmila Andrejewna Kondratjewa ( Russian Людмила Андреевна Кондратьева; English transcription Lyudmila Kondratyeva ; born April 11, 1958 in Shakhty , Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a former Russian (or Soviet) athlete .

Athletic career

Kondratjewa, whose special discipline was the pentathlon at the beginning, surprisingly won the gold medal over 200 meters at the European Championships in 1978 . On the same occasion, she won the 4 x 100 meter relay race with the Soviet relay . So she became the favorite for the upcoming Olympic Games.

In 1980 she ran a not officially confirmed world record over 100 meters. The 100-meter race at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow was a very close affair; the first five were only separated by a tenth of a second. The target photo showed that Kondratjewa had beaten Marlies Göhr (GDR) by only a hundredth of a second. Kondretjewa pulled a strain in this race , so that she could no longer compete for the 200-meter race and the 4 x 100-meter relay.

Since her country boycotted the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , Kondratyeva could not repeat her Olympic victory.

At the 1988 Olympics in Seoul , she won bronze in the 4 x 100 meter relay.

family

Kondratjewa married the two-time hammer throw Olympic champion Jurij Sedych , but later divorced him. Their daughter Oksana Kondratjewa (* 1985) previously competed in the hammer throw . She took part in the Universiade four times and won the silver medal there in 2013. At the 2013 World Championships , she finished seventh. At the end of March 2020, doping proceedings were initiated against Oksana .
