Hallwang is a municipality in the Austrian district of Salzburg-Umgebung with 4250 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020). It is located on the northern outskirts of the state capital Salzburg .
Community structure
The municipality includes the following four localities (population in brackets as of January 1, 2020):
- Berg (491) including Söllheim
- Esch (1722) including Esch-Mayrwies, Matzing, Oberesch and Unteresch
- Hallwang (1392) including Tiefenbach and Tuffern
- Zilling (645) including Döbring, Einleiten, Höllgraben and Reicherting
Parts of Hallwang were incorporated to Salzburg, even so Hallwang own cadastral ( Hallwang II forms) in Salzburg, Hallwang forms the KG Hallwang I .

history
The current municipal area was already settled in the Neolithic. Around the year 1000 the place was first mentioned in a document as Locus Haldinwanc , as a halde 'slope' with -wang 'corridor'. In 1858 the Vicariate Hallwang was elevated to a parish . In 1860 the place was connected to the western railway line with the Hallwang-Elixhausen train station and the Salzburg- Kasern (formerly Salzburg-Maria Plain ) stop , which has been served by the S2 line of the Salzburg S-Bahn since 2004 .

- Silver over green divided obliquely to the left and inside each a color-confused obliquely left branch , each at the top twice and once at the bottom .

UCI Road World Championships 2006
In the period from September 19 to 24, 2006, the city of Salzburg and the surrounding area hosted the road cycling world championship . Hallwang was one of the key points in the course, as well as a large visitor center, campsites and supporting events. A total of 330,000 spectators attended this event - many of them in Hallwang.
