Merimetsa is a municipality ( Estonian asum ) of the Estonian capital Tallinn . The district is located in the Põhja-Tallinn district .

The beach of Stroomi ( Stroomi rand ) is a popular destination for the Tallinn population. The municipality is located directly on the Baltic Sea on the Bay of Kopli ( Kopli laht ).

The district is very sparsely populated with only 13 inhabitants. Forest parks and natural areas shape the landscape. The name of the city district literally means “lake forest” in Estonian .

Merimetsa is known for the Tallinn trotting track Hipodroom . A psychiatric clinic and other medical facilities have been located in Merimetsa since 1970 .
