Vismeistri is a district ( Estonian asum ) in the northwest of the Estonian capital Tallinn . It is located in the Haabersti district .

Description and history

The green and natural district has 1,399 inhabitants (as of May 1, 2010).

The place was first mentioned in 1515. The former village has belonged to the city of Tallinn since 1975.

The historical German name is Fischmeister . There was the seat of the fish master, an official of the Teutonic Order , who was under the command of Tallinn (German Reval ). His job was to take care of fish during Lent .
