Kadaka

Kadaka (in German " Wacholder ") is a district ( Estonian asum ) of the Estonian capital Tallinn . It is located in the Mustamäe district .
Description and history
Kadaka has 2,199 inhabitants (as of May 1, 2010). The district is (south) east of Lake Harku .
The municipality got its name after the former village of Kadaka ( Kadaka küla ). The settlement has been documented since 1697. At that time it belonged to the Michaeliskirche , the Swedish parish of Tallinn. The German name of the village was Kaddak .
In the 1960s and 1970s, industrial and commercial zones for the city of Tallinn emerged in Kadaka. Numerous Soviet companies moved from downtown Tallinn to Kadaka. The headquarters of the Estonian energy company Eesti Energia and the depot of the Tallinn bus companies are located in Kadaka today .
In addition, some residential buildings, some of which have nine storeys, were built using Soviet prefabricated panels .
The campus of the Tallinn University of Technology (TTÜ), founded in 1918, is located in the southern part of the city district . The modern technology park TEHNOPOL with an entrepreneur and innovation center is also located there.
