Sääse (in German " Mücke ") is a district ( Estonian asum ) of the Estonian capital Tallinn . It is located in the Mustamäe district .

Description and history

Sääse has 8,726 inhabitants (as of May 1, 2010). Its area is 0.6 square kilometers.

Like the entire Mustamäe district, Sääse is characterized by Soviet-style prefabricated buildings . It was built in the 1960s and 1970s to provide housing for Russian-speaking citizens from other parts of the Soviet Union . The houses are usually five or nine storeys high.

In addition, some summer houses and smaller houses from the time before the Second World War have been preserved. At that time the district was called Rabaküla (in German "Moordorf").
