Ülemiste is a district ( Estonian asum ) of the Estonian capital Tallinn . It is located in the Lasnamäe district .

The city district has 1,453 inhabitants (as of May 1, 2010). The district is located northeast of the lake of the same name, Ülemiste järv ("Upper Lake"). Tallinn International Airport, Tallinn-Lennart Meri Airport, is located in Ülemiste . The airport was called Tallinn-Ülemiste until 2006 .

Ülemiste also has a passenger and freight station, the Ülemiste kaubajaam . It is served by the Estonian railway companies Eesti Raudtee (freight), Elektriraudtee (regional transport) and Edelaraudtee (long-distance trains). There is also a large shopping center in the district, the Ülemiste keskus . The Ülemiste City business park is located in the district .
