Järve is a district ( Estonian asum ) of the Estonian capital Tallinn . It is in the Kristiine district .

description

The city district has 2,889 inhabitants (as of May 1, 2010).

The name probably comes from the name of a former summer residence called Erbe (also Hermansberg ).

In the area at the end of the 19th century, a few companies settled on the cheap building land at what was then the gates of Tallinn. At the beginning of the 20th century, the industrialist O. Amberg founded a factory for processing silicate stone ( Tallinna silikaat-puhelinliskivi vabrik O. Amberg ja Ko ), which flourished in the interwar period . With the Soviet occupation of Estonia in 1940, all industrial plants were nationalized. The Soviet army also had numerous military buildings built in Järve. Today the district is again characterized by Estonian and international industrial companies and trading establishments.

A train station has been located in Järve since 1923 and is now served by the Estonian railway company Elektriraudtee . In 1926, the station building was built in national romantic Art Nouveau based on plans by the Estonian architect Karl Burman the Elder (1882–1965). It has been a listed building since 1999.
