history
The village of Kakumäe (German Kakomäggi ) was first mentioned in 1697. The name probably comes from the stream of the same name that flowed from Lake Harku towards the Baltic Sea . A "bridge over the Kakamaye" is documented as early as 1469.
In 1975 the village of Kakumäe was incorporated into the city of Tallinn.
