Sadama (in German " Hafen ") is a district ( Estonian asum ) of the Estonian capital Tallinn . It is located in the Kesklinn district ("inner city").

Description and history

Sadama has 2,442 inhabitants (as of May 1, 2010).

Tallinn passenger port

The passenger port of the Estonian capital is located in Sadama. It is called Vanasadam ("old harbor") in Estonian . The port code is EE VAN.

From there, ferries run regularly across the Baltic Sea to Helsinki , Stockholm and Saint Petersburg . The 23 quays are spread over an area of ​​529,000 square meters. The port's aquatorium is 759,000 square meters.

The port is one of five ports operated by the state port company "Port of Tallinn" ( Tallinna Sadam ).

The main building of Tallinn University and the Tallinn Central Post Office date from the Soviet era . Sadama is also home to the New Synagogue of the Estonian capital , which was inaugurated in 2007, and a historic church of the Estonian Apostolic Orthodox Church ( Eesti Apostlik-Õigeusu Kirik ) from the 18th century.
