Siili (in English " Igel ") is a district ( Estonian asum ) of the Estonian capital Tallinn . It is located in the Mustamäe district .

Description and history

Siili has 3,723 inhabitants (as of May 1, 2010).

The satellite town was built between 1971 and 1974. It is characterized by five-storey and new-storey apartment buildings in prefabricated construction . In between there is a shopping center and smaller shop buildings. Siili is connected to downtown Tallinn by bus and trolleybuses . In the western part of the city district is the 5.9 hectare park Parditiigi park ("Duck Pond Park").

Akadeemia Nord, founded in 1991 as a private university, is located in Siili . It has been part of the Tallinn State University since July 2010 . Mainly lawyers are trained there. The university building in Siili was completed in the 1980s and extensively renovated in 2002.
