Novosjolowo ( Russian Новосёлово ) is a village (selo) in the Krasnoyarsk region in Russia with 5980 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The place is a good 160 km as the crow flies southwest of the regional administrative center of Krasnoyarsk . It is located on the left bank of the Krasnoyarsk reservoir of the Yenisei, which is three to five kilometers wide .

Nowosjolowo administrative center is the Rajons Nowosjolowski and seat and only town in the rural community (selskoje posselenije) Nowosjolowski selsowet.

history

The exact year the original village was founded is not known. Since the place is not mentioned in the information of a revision from 1719, but the geographer Gerhard Friedrich Müller mentioned it in his Siberia travel report from 1739 as a village with a church built two years earlier, it is likely that it was built in the 1720s.

On April 4, 1924 Novosjolowo became the administrative seat of a Rajons named after him. With the flooding of the Krasnoyarsk reservoir in the 1960s, the village came under its water level and was therefore rebuilt in advance at a higher point not far from the old location. The new town received urban-type settlement status in 1962 , but lost it again in 1991.

A car ferry crosses the reservoir at Novosjolowo ; the road on the right bank runs south past Krasnoturansk and Idrinskoje to Minusinsk .

To the west of the village is an airport ( ICAO code UNAN ), which has been out of service since the 1990s.
