history

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1296 as Dious and was created on the edge of a mountain pass through the Little Carpathians, through which the so-called "Bohemian Road" ran. In the 14th century German settlers from Lorraine and Rhineland were settled here; The municipality's vineyards also date from this period. According to this fact, the place was called in Latin villa Nucum theutonicalis in the 14th and 15th centuries and belonged to the estate of the nearby Smolenitz Castle .

In 1547 the Anabaptists settled here, who founded a Haban court here, which was known for its pottery. In 1582 Deutschnußdorf received market rights from King Rudolf II and thus became a market town. In 1828 there are 189 houses and 1306 inhabitants. In 1872 the Pálffy family set up a varnish and inking plant, the predecessor of today's Chemolak company . However, Horné Orešany still remains an agricultural community, with a significant share of viticulture.
